Welcome to AskLawson. Before you proceed, it is crucial that you read, understand, and agree to the following terms and conditions. Your access to and use of the AskLawson website and its services are expressly conditioned on your acceptance of this disclaimer.
1. For Informational Purposes Only — Not Legal Advice
AskLawson is an AI-powered Legal Information Retrieval System designed to help you find and understand publicly available legal information, including statutes, procedures, and requirements that relate to your topic.
- AskLawson is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal strategy, or legal representation.
- The information provided by AskLawson is for general informational purposes only and should not be construed as legal advice, legal guidance, or a legal opinion on any specific facts or circumstances.
- Legal information consists of publicly available facts about laws and procedures. This is what AskLawson provides.
- Legal advice is the application of law to an individual's specific circumstances, along with a recommended course of action. Only a licensed attorney can provide this service.
2. No Attorney-Client Relationship Is Created
Your use of AskLawson in any capacity—including submitting queries, uploading documents, receiving information, or otherwise interacting with the platform—does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and AskLawson, its developers, or any affiliated parties.
- An attorney-client relationship is a special, privileged relationship that is only formed through a mutual agreement with a qualified, licensed attorney.
- Because no such relationship exists, communications with AskLawson are not protected by attorney-client privilege or the work product doctrine.
- Do not share sensitive, confidential, or privileged information that you would only share with a legal representative. If you need to discuss privileged matters, consult a licensed attorney.
3. Information May Be Outdated or Inaccurate
The law is complex and constantly changing. While AskLawson strives to provide current and accurate information, we make no representation, warranty, or guarantee as to its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
- Laws change frequently: Information generated by AskLawson may be outdated due to new statutes, regulations, court rulings, or amendments to existing state and federal laws.
- Jurisdictional differences: The law varies significantly between states, counties, and local municipalities. Information that is accurate in one location may be incomplete or inaccurate in another. AskLawson anchors searches to your jurisdiction but may not capture every local nuance.
- AI limitations: As an AI system, AskLawson can misinterpret queries, make errors, or generate incomplete information. AI-generated content should always be verified against official sources.
4. User's Duty to Verify and Consult a Professional
You are solely responsible for any actions you take or refrain from taking based on information obtained from AskLawson.
- You must independently verify any information before relying on it, using official government sources, court websites, or consultation with a licensed attorney.
- You should not act or refrain from acting based solely on information provided by AskLawson without first seeking the advice of a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.
- A licensed attorney can provide advice tailored to your unique situation and ensure you are relying on the most current and applicable law.
- If you choose to represent yourself (proceed "pro se"), AskLawson can help you prepare by organizing relevant information, but the responsibility for all legal decisions remains entirely yours.
5. Document Upload and Data Processing
When you upload documents to AskLawson for analysis:
- Documents are processed by third-party services (PDF.co for extraction, Google Gemini API for analysis). PDF.co deletes uploaded files within one hour. On the paid Gemini API tier, your data is not used to train or improve AI models; prompts and responses are retained temporarily for abuse monitoring, and when live legal research (Google Search grounding) is used, related query data is retained by Google for up to 30 days and cannot be disabled while grounding is active.
- If you choose to save documents to your dashboard, they are stored securely with AES-256 encryption.
- AskLawson performs neutral analysis of your documents against publicly available legal requirements. We do not make judgments about the legal validity or sufficiency of your documents—only a licensed attorney can provide such assessments.
- For complete details on how your data is handled, please review our Privacy Policy.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The AskLawson website and all information provided through it are offered on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. AskLawson and its affiliates expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of information

In no event shall AskLawson, its creators, owners, affiliates, or service providers be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use this website or its information
- Any decisions or actions you take based on information obtained from AskLawson
- Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the information provided
